Almond Hulls & Shells

Established in 2008, Sierra Valley Hulling is a leader of quality inshell and kernel production for California almond growers. We focus on maximizing inshell production where appropriate, and apply special handling for the highest possible kernel quality. Sierra Valley Hulling has grower success in mind at all times.

Almond hulls and shells are a natural byproduct of the hulling process, and both are important to the sustainability of California agriculture. Hulls are rich in sugar, nutritious minerals and fiber – adding value to dairy cow feed. Shells are often used as bedding for livestock, dust control for roads, and can also be used to supplement livestock feeding programs. Research is also underway to improve bio-based dinnerware by adding almond shells to recycled plastics! California agriculture really is focused on improving the environment and reducing waste! Sustainability at all levels!
